When I got the notice that this book was ready to pick up at the library, I was excited. I read Jessica Knoll‘s first book, Luckiest Girl Alive, and I enjoyed it. It was a nice fluffy read, with lots of twists and turns – perfect beach, summer or rainy weekend read.
Unfortunately, her new book, The Favorite Sister, didn’t meet my expectations. It had the same vibe, but so much of it was scheming and backstabbing women that I just couldn’t take it. I couldn’t even finish the book! Many people have compared it to the Real Housewives TV reality series, just on paper. I do like some reality TV but that series is just too hard to watch – too many negative people, petty fights, materialistic priorities, etc.
Upon doing some research into further reviews for this book, it seems many people felt the same way I did. They couldn’t get into it with all the mean characters, although those that did finish the book said it did get better if you stuck with it.
I just couldn’t do it. So, if you like the Real Housewives reality show, this might make a great read for you. For me, it’s on to the next. If you read it, let me know what you thought – did you like it?
